Wenbin ‘Henry’ Zhu’s Remarkable Journey at TN Delta
When Tennessee Delta made the decision to recolonize in 2023, Phi Psi Staff and Tennessee Delta advisors knew a strong leader was needed to revitalize and reinvigorate both the brotherhood and the alumni-base. They could not have asked for better when Wenbin “Henry” Zhu answered the recruitment call as a Junior. Since becoming a colony member, Henry has served in seven leadership roles and has set the standard for the colony going forward.
TN Delta Alumnus and advisor Art Johnsen states that “Henry was the first pledge to make a commitment to the Tennessee Delta Colony, at the time newly returned to campus. Working with a consultant from Headquarter, the chapter only added 3 more pledges during most of the school year 2022-23 in what proved to be a very difficult environment for a fraternity without a local brand. But Henry never gave up the dream of a robust chapter, united in Phi Psi principles and brotherhood. Working with Headquarters consultants and The Office of Greek Life at Vanderbilt, selling the Phi Psi brand across campus and after attending countless meetings, the chapter entered the Fall 2023 semester with a total of 30 colony pledges. In countless ways, Henry was a driving force in getting the chapter to the present level of 34 colony pledges.”
The TN Delta House Corporation has created the Tennessee Delta Leadership Award, and Wenbin “Henry” Zhu has been named the inaugural recipient for his tireless work, dedication, and leadership of the Tennessee Delta Colony. “Henry is a fitting recipient of the inaugural Tennessee Delta Leadership Award. He was successful at Vanderbilt and Tennessee Delta. I have no doubt he will be successful in anything he chooses to do.”

Tell me about yourself.
I am a person fueled by curiosity and aspiration. My journey has been marked by pursuit of knowledge and growth. Born in Yiwu, China, a city synonymous with the “Made in China” ethos, I quickly realized that my ambitions extended far beyond its borders. My educational path has been diverse and international, spanning three high schools and three universities. This journey has not only provided me with a rich tapestry of cultural experiences but has also allowed me to forge connections with a wide array of communities.
Why did you choose Vanderbilt University?
My decision to attend Vanderbilt was influenced by its reputation for academic excellence. The satisfaction and positive feedback from its alumni resonated with me, confirming that Vanderbilt would provide the intellectually stimulating environment I sought.
What attracted you to Phi Psi?
Phi Psi’s ethos of service, great pleasure serving others, which has been its cornerstone for over 150 years, deeply resonates with me. I am not just an admirer of this ideal but an active practitioner. My involvement in Phi Psi is an extension of my commitment to serving and uplifting others.
What has been the highlight of your presidency so far?
The most rewarding aspect of my presidency has been mentoring and guiding the younger members towards success. Having previously held seven different roles within the chapter, I bring a unique perspective and experience to my leadership. Watching members grow, innovate, and excel in their roles under my guidance has been immensely fulfilling.
What are your plans post-graduation?
I am set to graduate in May 2024. After graduation, I will be joining as an associate consultant in Santa Clara. This role allows me to continue my passion for helping others and utilizing my knowledge for impactful change.
